I’ve decided this first week in Paris to play tourist. My good friend John arrived yesterday and we visited La Tour Eiffel at sunset. If you’ve never seen this site in person, it’s truly awe-inspiring, even to a skeptic like John. Since it’s nearing sunset, we decided to visit the three observation decks high above the city. It’s truly a breathtaking site and somehow makes the city look small and manageable.

The French are celebrating my arrival in France with a bang – literally. After my 18 hour journey and a few hours sleep, I stumble through customs and pick up my bag. I’m impressed that I’ve only packed two bags for my year-long journey.
