A Sticky Situation

It’s not easy to admit to a food addiction, especially when I’m a chef. I have a passion for cooking that goes beyond lifting a fork to my lips, but sometimes that passion goes too far. I have a sugar addiction, and evidently I’m not alone. According to the US Department of Agriculture, Americans consume an average 150 pounds per person per year.

Good Grains

Growing up, my mom made sure we ate lots of whole grains: whole wheat bread, brown rice, and oats. But once I moved out of the house and could make my own decisions, I opted for white bread, lots of pasta, and of course crackers. I actually thought things made with white flour tasted better than those made with whole grain.
