My grocery bill has been cut by more than half now that I’m working at a famous three-star Parisian restaurant. Although we don’t eat off the menu, we are fed lunch and dinner each day.

If you’ve ever eaten a truffle – the vegetable kind, not the chocolate ones – you’ll know why people are so crazy about them. At 1,700 Euros a kilo (about $1,000 per pound), they’re rather like gold.
