Being A Girl

In class, we can’t wear any jewelry, paint our fingernails, and wearing a lot of makeup makes no sense since we sweat like crazy. Our uniforms don’t exactly go a long way to make use feel feminine either – steel toes clogs, baggy black and white checkered pants, oversized and shapeless jackets, a necktie, and a hat that looks like we just got out of the Navy. It all goes a long way to keeping us protected, but it does nothing for our image!

Now that my mom is here, we’ll be doing some shoe shopping, buying some lotions and makeup, and I can finally paint my fingernails. I can wear my watch and a necklace or two, and I’ve even made an appointment to get my hair cut and colored. I guess I didn’t realize how much I missed being girly. Of course if you try to convince me that I’m a girly girl, I will still vehemently deny it!

Have a blast with your mom. Tell her hi from us. Thanks for the wonderful postings. I look forward to your next adventures.

Not a girly-girl? Get real - makeup every day, manicures, different hair colors and those SHOES. Now, if you want to talk about not being a girly-girl, I'm your role model. Remember how excited you got when I wore makeup? And I'm still waiting for muu-muus to become a fashion statement...

LOL...

Hmmmmm -- I can still see you, age 5, in my cork wedgies, beads and big straw hat, telling us your name was Valentine Sweetlove! If that isn't girlygirl, I don't know what is -- never mind the Blahniks!

Renaissance astrologers observed the Doctrine of Signatures (similar to naturopathic medicine, actually) -- that you could know who "wrote" something into being by observing the form. So, Saturn "writes" stones, structures, containers into being. Uranus "writes" revolutions and risks into being. Venus' signature is joy and beauty and spontaneity -- when we're happy, when we're making love, when we're creating beauty, Venus is writing herself into the world, and she is REALLY happy in Paris!

Your Mom showed me pictures of your visit together -- loved seeing you in Kaviar Kaspia (now there's a Venusian experience, shaded a bit by Saturn because of the Russian exiles -- is the restaurant still beautifully grey and filled with precious tchatchkes carried from Mother Russia?) and her photos of the bridges and Musee d'Orsay made me long to be there.

Thanks for continuing to bring Venus into the world! xoxo Carol
